Lifou and Isle des Pins are two of the several islands
within New Caledonia, a French colony that is (finally) approaching full
independence. The history, geology, flora and culture are all interesting, but I
have to say that our first reaction is to their loveliness. Beautiful beaches, coral reefs, verdant landscapes and the clearest, turquoise
water. The sand was like talcum powder, and the water was perfectly refreshing and warm, with soft waves to bob in. We spent hours each day just indulging in beach time. Let me leave you with a little taste Ahhh….
